We're based in Norfolk and work across the Southside, from Portsmouth over to the oceanfront.
Housing around here covers a lot of ground. Norfolk has older brick and frame houses in neighborhoods like Ghent and Colonial Place, many with original hardwood floors and plaster walls. Virginia Beach and Chesapeake lean toward newer subdivisions with carpet upstairs and big open kitchens. Portsmouth mixes historic homes in Olde Towne with post-war ranches. Each one cleans a little differently. We plan the visit around the house you actually have.
Humid summers bring mildew to bathrooms
From June into September the air here stays damp, and a bathroom without a strong exhaust fan never fully dries between showers. Mildew starts as gray spots in the grout and along the caulk at the base of the tub. Wipe it and it's back in a week or two. We scrub it out of the grout lines, and if the caulk is stained all the way through, we'll tell you it needs replacing.
Pollen and sand get into everything
Every spring the pine trees across the region drop a yellow film of pollen. It gets onto sills and into window tracks even with the windows shut. Closer to the oceanfront in Virginia Beach, sand does the same thing in rug fibers and the corners of hard floors. Both need a vacuum with a crevice tool before any wiping, or the cloth just smears them around. So when we clean interior windows, the sills and tracks get vacuumed first.
Navy moves keep rentals changing hands
Norfolk is home to the largest naval base in the world, and a lot of Southside rentals change hands when orders come through. That leaves landlords and property managers a short window between one lease and the next. Cleaning between tenants is one of the things we specialize in. Real estate agents book us too, to clean before a house is listed.
